COVID-19 Policy

COVID-19 continues to be a global health emergency. Effective, safe, and life-saving COVID-19 vaccines, as well as new treatments for those infected, have made it possible for us to feel confident that we can gather safely at Red Alder 2023. We will put in place measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19.  However, we cannot guarantee that participants, vendors, teachers, or others in attendance will not become infected with COVID-19.

Following is our COVID-19 policy for Red Alder 2023 (dated October 20, 2022.) The policy will be updated as necessary, based on masking and vaccine guidance and requirements from city, state, or federal authorities.

Red Alder Class Attendees and Teachers, as well as Special Events:

Vaccination – Proof of COVID-19 vaccination (to include the primary series as well as a minimum of one booster shot within the 12 months immediately prior to the start of the 2023 event) is required of class attendees and teachers. Attendees will show proof of vaccination at the Registration table.

Face Masks – As we continue to care for each other (and understand that individuals face different risks from COVID-19 infection), we encourage all class attendees to wear face masks. Individual teachers may require that masks are worn during their classes. If masking is required by the teacher, we will make every effort to notify students in advance.

Red Alder Marketplace:

Face Masks – Based on current guidelines for Washington State and Tacoma-Pierce County Departments of Public Health masking is highly recommended but not required in the Marketplace.

We encourage all vendors and Marketplace attendees to wear face masks.

Social Distancing – While in the Marketplace, please be aware of your surroundings and the need to maintain social distancing. When possible, remain a minimum of 6’ apart from others in the area.
