Crochet with Wire and Beads

Kitty Savel

Saturday PM

Is it art, craft, or hardware? Crochet a unique necklace that spans all three using nontraditional materials:  wire and beads! In this statement necklace, you will play with color and texture so that the mixture of acrylic beads, semi-precious stones and glass beads come into harmony in the final design.

You'll crochet wire using the basic chain and single crochet stitches. The closure is a lacey, non-conventional strand with no clasp. This unique closure distributes the weight of the necklace so that you can hardly feel it hanging around your neck.

Beads used include a combination of semi-precious stones, vintage beads and handmade glass beads.  Crochet Wire of both 26 and 28 gauges are used.

Skill Level:

Student must have experience with chain stitch and single crochet stitch.
