Spinning Off the Point: Cotton
Stephenie Gaustad
Thursday All Day
Cotton is a fiber that takes special handling. While it can be spun on a conventional spinning wheel, the job is so much easier and efficient on a spindle: a driven spindle like a great wheel or charkha or supported spindle, a beadwhorl, tahkli or ahka. We begin with the treadled wheel and progress to other wheels and spindles as is comfortable for you.
Skill level: Students should have some spinning experience.
Material Fee: $10 All spinning fibers and handouts in 8 1/2 X 11 format. There will be spindles and charkhas to use in class.

Student Supplies: Students should bring cotton spindles: ahka, tahkli, beadwhorl and charkha if possible.
Homework: None
