A beginning lace class which introduces types of lace motifs, getting organized for lace knitting, lace yarns, tools and techniques for successful lace knitting, terminology, simple architectural and pictorial shapes in lace. Students will work through a lace sampler as a class project to practice different types of lace motifs (pattern provided).

Skill Level: Students must have a complete understanding of increasing and decreasing, and be able to execute k2tog, ssk, sl1 k2tog psso, without assistance. Students should have completed a small project that requires shaping (hat, mittens, cowl, etc) and employs an early intermediate level of knitting skill and pattern reading (an understanding of intermediate knitting terminology is expected).

Student Supplies: Stitch markers, notepad, dental floss or fine cotton yarn (for lifelines), 300 yards of fingering yarn for class project, size 5 or 6 needles. A magnetic board or chart reading app may be helpful.
