Kumihimo on marudai: sasanami and karakumi

This intermediate marudai class introduces flat marudai braids, starting with sasanami, “ripples”, and karakumi, a classic diamond-patterned braid. These two introduce techniques which open the door to numerous other flat marudai braids.
Skill Level: Must be comfortable working on braids up to 16 tama.
Material fee: $10 Pre-made warps and printed class handouts.
Student Supplies: 1. Marudai; 12 to 20 tama. 2. Counterweight bag with short drawstring 2. Chopstick or double-pointed knitting needle. 4. Counterweight, 50-70% of your total tama weight. Coins, fishing sinkers, extra tama, etc. that fit in your counterweight bag are fine.
Homework: Bring one or two sample braids to share with the class and inspire each other with.
