Saturday PM
There are many knitting situations that demand an edge that will stretch: necklines, shawl edges, sock tops, cuffs, and ribbed hems, to name a few, and there are, of course, uncounted more. This class will introduce you to a compendium of stretchy cast ons and bind offs for every situation. I rate each as to stretchability, ease of use, and attractiveness. We categorize them into types, offer helpful modifications, and discuss where each might shine. The goal is to leave you with the confidence to add stretch and beauty to every knitted edge. Come prepared to swatch!
Skill Level: Knit, purl, yarn over, cast on, bind off. Student needs to have some knitting experience.
Material fee: $5 for full color handout
Student Supplies: Bring smooth, plied worsted or dk weight yarn in at least two contrasting colors, circular needles in appropriate sizes for the yarn, a small amount of smooth waste yarn and a crochet hook the same size as your needles or one size larger, tapestry needles, and scissors. Also, bring materials for note taking and labeling your swatches (such as post it notes or a small notebook and pins - or if you want to get fancy, tags!)
Homework: Bring any problems you have had related to cast on or bind off tightness or tension.
