Learn how to use handcards properly to create rolags and understand the difference between rolags made on hand cards and those made on blending boards. The instructor will advise you on how to pair/choose hand cards best for the fiber. Learn the differences between a true woolen yarn and a semi woolen yarn and how to properly characterize the yarns you spin. Next, you’ll go through the steps of sampling to find out which yarns you may want to continue creating down the line. Finally, we’ll navigate through some of the more common issues for spinning longdraw techniques and how to avoid them.

Skill level: All levels welcome, no previous knowledge necessary

Material Fee: $15 clean fleece for carding

Student Supplies: Pair of handcards (recommend 72 tpi);

Pen or pencil with eraser, notebook

Optional: spinning wheel or espinner with an empty bobbin, or spindle to test rolags.
